SEO Content Writing and Top Content Marketing Tips

SEO Content Writing and Marketing Tips
SEO content writing is the art of writing content for your website and blog. The article marketing tips provided here will enable you to combine effective SEO content with a powerful advertising and linking technique that Google likes. First some definitions.

What is SEO Content?
SEO is short for 'search engine optimization.' It is critical to your online success that the individual pages on your website and blog are easily scanned by search engine algorithms and that they provide the data essential for indexing, and then the content for an actual listing. It is not the objective here to explain how search engines work and the differences between indexing, listing and ranking - though I will give a brief explanation later.

Let's just say that these latter three items of vocabulary are presented in increasing order of desirability. Your page cannot be listed without it being indexed, and cannot achieve a high ranking without being listed. I will be using Google as an example of a search engine here because it the most important by far.

Effective SEO content writing can get your web page indexed. Whether it is listed, and the ranking it achieves in that listing, depends not only upon your content, but also on your promotional techniques such as article marketing. Others include author rank (making sure your name is associated with everything you publish online,) social networking activity (particularly with Google+) and links back from other authoritative web pages.

SEO Content Writing
The entire topic of search engine optimization cannot be covered with one article. It will take many articles to explain the workings of SEO in general. This is restricted to SEO content writing, which refers to the content within the 'body' section of your web page HTML or source code.

A large part of SEO also lies in the 'Meta' data contained in the 'Head' section of the source code. The word 'Meta' has many meanings, but here it means 'related to' or 'about.' The Meta data offers information relate to the content of the web page. Examples include the 'description' of the content, 'keywords' used and the 'Title' of the page.

Such data will be displayed on your listing in Google. The title of your Google listing is the content of your 'Title tag.' The description is what you write in your 'Description Meta tag'. In other words, while readers of your web page or blog see only the SEO content writing between the two 'BODY' HTML tags, Google users will see only what is contained in your Meta data, between the two 'HEAD' tags - until they click the published link when they will see your 'BODY' information.

SEO content writing is about providing as relevant information as possible to the subject of your web page. Google judges each page/post in your website or blog on its own merit. Here is what happens when somebody carries out a web search.

How Search Engines Work
When you create a website, and persuade Google to 'spider' or 'crawl' it, the complex statistical mathematical formula known as an algorithm or robot (Googlebot) will scan the entire content of your site. It will then index the URL of each web page according to its content.

When somebody carries out a search using Google, the listing algorithm with establish the relevance of your web pages to that search term using its latent semantic indexing (LSI) algorithm. This will use the keywords you have used in your SEO content writing and the semantic relevance of your vocabulary.

The overall ranking algorithm will then rank your page according to this information in addition to a large number of other factors (e.g. Meta data.) Your ranking is where you are listed in Google's search results pages for that search term (keyword.)

SEO Content Writing and Google Ranking
By writing about your topic in a natural way, and avoiding excessive use of keywords, SEO content writing can help you attain a Page #1 listing - or top 10 ranking. That is only for the one search term used by the person seeking information. If they use another term, then your ranking might be different since the algorithms will be using different data.

By using professionally written web content, you can maximize the chance of your web page or blog post being listed for any particular keyword. Some of the better SEO content writing services will also check your source code and offer you advice on how to improve your Meta data.

Content Marketing Tips
Content marketing involves writing articles on the topic of individual pages of your website and then submitting them to publications that specialize in web content. There was a time when some such directories published anything offered to them, irrespective of quality. The Google Panda indexing algorithm update delisted content from many of these directories or 'content farms.'

It was believed by some that article marketing was then dead - but far from it! It is stronger than ever, because the better directories tightened up on their publication criteria. Try to get bad grammar or spelling past Ezine Articles reviewers and you will hit a brick wall!

Of all the SEO content writing and article marketing tips you should take, the main two are to make sure your article contains writing of a very high standard, and that your SEO content is 100% relevant to the topic of the page you are promoting in your resource. Any less and you will fail.
